About

"Me And Camera" by Jerry Pillarelli Photography
Let me tell you a little more about myself and how I entered what many in this field call “the best profession on Earth.”
I am originally from Rome, Italy. I was born under the sign of Cancer on a hot summer day on June 29, 1983, which makes me just about 26 years old. I lived in my motherland until I was 19. That’s when I decided to take off and later landed in the States with the weirdest idea of carrying on the family tradition to study medicine at the University of Colorado at Boulder, a hippie town in the Rockies known for its Sport Medicine undergraduate program.
Four years later I graduated with a PreMed degree in Integrative Physiology (the science that studies your body’s functions during exercise). Shortly after I discovered I liked writing much better than working in a dark, cold laboratory all day long doing experiments on the brain immune system of rats. So I followed my “gut feelings” and applied to be an Editorial Intern in one of the local outdoors magazines. Few weeks after graduation I was on my way to Carbondale, Colorado in the mountain range, ready to start off my career as an unpaid intern for Climbing magazine.
Six months later, with a bunch of writing clips under my belt and a clearer idea that writing was going to be my life-long career, I decided to apply to Graduate School to become a reporter. A year later I walked down a crowded room, dressed up in a light blue gown with a Master’s in Print International Journalism from American University in Washington D.C.
Little did I know I was going to intern for the National Geographic Society, work for an online magazine as a Marketing Manager and later land in the world of Sport Photography as the Professional Beach Volleyball league photographer traveling with the team around the States.
This to prove that the roads to journalism are infinite and paved with great opportunities. You must just trust your intuitions and take leaps of faith in the unknown once in a while. You never know, you might land among the stars sooner than you think it possible.
This Web site serves two purposes: To contribute to the multimedia world with some of my work hoping it will be appreciated and read with the same enthusiasm I put into building it. And, hopefully, impress some employer and get me a job in the wonderful world of news that I am so eagerly wanting to be part of.

"My Resume"
Ciao Fede, come stai?
abbraccio
Mario
